Shreveport is home to rich haunted folklore...something to be expected from an early nineteenth century river city that has such colorful tales woven throughout its history.
In 2010, The History Press of Charleston, SC published Historic Haunts of Shreveport by LSUS History professors Dr. Gary Joiner and Dr. Cheryl White. Both have a keen interest in historic preservation of sites in Shreveport that are attached to ghostly lore. Through guided tours, held regularly throughout the year, patrons can hear expert narration on the city's history, have exclusive access inside some beautiful homes and locales, and contribute to the cause of historic preservation so that we may continue to save these sites for the future.
Our tours are unique in that they feature original academic research, infused with a passion for historic preservation, show respect and honor for the hallowed ground of old burial grounds, and reflect a commitment to the community through giving back to the cause of preservation. This is the only tour in Shreveport based on the original book and authorized to use that research as educational material.
Historic Haunts of Shreveport bus tours include the following sites/locations (sites may change due to availability):
Oakland Cemetery The Logan Mansion
The Calanthean Temple **NEW**
